Also known as Tulsi, this adaptogenic herb is revered in India as an “elixir of life”. Lab studies have shown that the tulsi plant protects against free radicals by increasing the body’s level of anti-oxidant molecules such as glutathione and enhancing the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase and catalase, which protect cellular organelles and membranes by neutralising free radicals.  It has broad-spectrum anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activity which assists in wound healing. Tulsi is considered a tonic for mind and spirit.
